"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in
which it treats its children." — Nelson Mandela, Former President of
South Africa
Dear friends, we would like for you to join us in
uniting our efforts to assist our superstar children Jamilah, Steve,
Jasmine among other children living with cerebral palsy in the slums of
Voi, Railways,Sofia and Taita Taveta county, Kenya in improving the
quality of their lives and those of their loved ones by adding a little
more comfort to their lives. We are in need of 14 wheelchairs to help
these very special children gain some mobility and put a smile on their
faces.
My friend Jackie and I have witnessed the pressing needs
of these families caring for children with cerebral palsy among other
disabilities in the community. Jackie has gone to the extra mile to
provide home based care and volunteered to train tertially skills to the
singlemoms ,for these families living in the community with limited
income, but yet they still need to cater to the extraordinary needs of
these children. She has done an amazing job and taken it upon herself to
visit the families living with the underprivileged children
disadvantaged by physical and/or mental disability and provide care and
education in their homes.
Being a witness to the complete absence
of any facility to care for disabled children in her beloved community,
Jackie has seen and understood the difficulties these families face,
and has expressed the genuine need these children have for wheelchairs.
She has shared some of the stories and photos with permission from the
families of these superstars!
Jamila is a 12 years old girl who
is not able to leave the house because she has no wheelchair and her
caregiver is not able to carry her to take her outside. Steve is a 17
year old boy who has a basic wheelchair, but is not able to mobilize
adequately to go to school.
We are passionate about helping the disabled kids and their single moms,
we have for the last six months distributed about six wheelchairs to the
needy and we have been working hand in hand to help the care givers
acquire tertiary skills which they are using to help fed for their
families. Your assistance is appreciated.
Together we can make a change.
Thank you.Jacqueline Ruthi
