Terry Child Support& Youth Resource Centre (Terry) is a non-profit organization with the aim of empowering orphans, vulnerable children, the youth and other vulnerable groups. Terry in Partnership with VSO have identified the youth as key players in environmental conservation in Kathiani sub-county. In recognition of the driving forces behind their involvement in deforestation, i.e. poverty, unemployment and lack of awareness on climate change, we intend to actively engage the youth through awareness creation and empower them to be at the forefront of conservation efforts in the Iveti area.

We intend to offer both technical and material support to ten (10) local youth football teams through weekly clinics during which they will be sensitized on issues of climate change and environmental conservation. The period of awareness raising will culminate in a football tournament which will also provide an opportunity for the teams to plant 1000+ trees in the deforested area and commit to caring for the same in partnership with the local community. The event will also allow for us to disseminate the message of conservation to the larger community who will be in attendance. By inviting the youth to plant the trees, we believe this is the first step to them creating their own sustainable future.

The money that we are trying to raise will go towards buying footballs for the tournament and teams involved, the tree seedlings that we will use on the tournament day as well as helping us create t-shirts raising awareness on conservation issues as well as helping to fund the tournament day and future projects at Terry's. We believe that by engaging the youth on important climate issues we will allow them to understand the importance of looking after our beautiful planet and helping to secure the most healthy environment for the future generations. Thank You!
