Turi 4 Buyu

We all remember Mr. Buyu; the fun loving, strong, intelligent, witty Physics and Design Technology teacher. Some of you had the privilege of having him as your basketball coach, and know how impossible it was to beat him one on one. We all witnessed him year after year whizzing past the finish line in the 100m race on sports day. He boasted some of the most impressive athletic abilities in our school’s history, and that was at 3 times our age! Paced and patient in the classroom, yet lightning quick on the court and track, some might say Mr. Buyu was our very own living Yoda! 

As some of you might know, Mr. Buyu was forced to retire as a teacher from St. Andrew’s School Turi 2 years ago as he has Parkinson’s Disease. As you may know, this disease currently does not have a cure but can be managed to give someone a good quality of life. We have been working with him to find therapies and measures to help him manage but he has been deteriorating. Those close to him have observed that he is now stooped and stiffer. He remains positive as ever, and still retains his sense of humor! His doctor has recommended Deep Brain Stimulation at the Apollo Hospitals in New Delhi, India, which would significantly boost and improve his quality of life. We want to give him a chance, and although this procedure is a costly one, we are certain with your help we can make this happen. We need to raise Ksh 3million (around $30,000) and have estimated that with the hundreds of students spanning 13 generations of Turians, and teachers that Mr. Buyu has touched, we could easily reach this goal. He has an AAR insurance that entitles him to a Ksh 750,000 cover.
