On August 7th 1998, terrorists attacked the then U.S. Embassy, located at the corner of Moi and Haile Selasse Avenues, with a car bomb. 218 innocent lives were lost and scores were injured by the flying shards of glass and debris. As a result, the site was donated by the Kenyan and American people to the August 7th Memorial Trust. They were charged with developing the site into a memorial park as a tribute to the victims.

Today, the August 7th Memorial Park stands at the site of this terrible tragedy as a place of peace and remembrance. However, the August 7th Memorial Park is facing permanent closure. The Park receives very minimal support from the local and foreign governments. The very nominal gate fees go into maintaining the space. Currently, the Park is struggling to stay open.

We need your help.

We're calling on Kenyans to help us keep our doors open and save this beacon of hope and peace. No donation is too small or too insignificant. Make your contribution to honour the 218 lives we lost and the thousands whose lives changed forever.

#OkoaParknaSoo so we can continue to tell the story of the 7th and the things we overcame as a nation. Help us continue to provide a place of peace and refuge in the city center.

Save the 7th. Back the park.
