MENYHART SEC SCHOOL LAB EQUIPMENT
My name is Shirley Nadzua a 16 year old Lincoln Ambassador I have a project to raise funds to renovate and equip Menyhart Secondary school lab in Kilifi County

It is imperative for schools to have an equipped science lab. Science is different from any other subject. In order to understand its concepts, one has to look beyond the books and conventional classroom teaching. Effective teaching and learning of science involve seeing and experiments. The knowledge that students attain in classrooms would be ineffectual unless they actually observe the process and understand the relationship between action and reaction.
To help their students excel in science subjects a teacher needs to combine classroom teaching with laboratory experiments to ensure that their students grasp each and every concept thoroughly. Laboratory teaching and experiments conducted help encourage deep understanding in students and help them to retain the knowledge for longer when they see the experiments being performed in front of their eyes.
Science lab equipment allows students to interact and get a first-hand learning experience by performing various experiments on their own. Science lab equipment and supplies make teaching and learning easy for both for the teachers and the students. There are several scientific theories and concepts that are difficult to explain directly from the books. Anatomy models, physics and chemistry practical make it easy to understand the otherwise complex theories of science.
By equipping a laboratory with materials and supplies, schools are able to contribute a lot in the scientific advances yet to come. The advances and developments in the field of medical science and technology would not take place if schools did not prepare brilliant and dedicated scientists and researchers. Students develop interest in scientific research in school labs. When they observe various things and carry out different experiments, their reasoning skills are honed and they start thinking deeply on those theories and concepts. Schools thus play a vital role in bringing up the next generation of engineers and doctors.
Schools that have well equipped labs make science interesting and effective for students and encourage them to make significant contributions in the field of physics, biology, chemistry, and other streams of science later in life

My name is Shirley Nadzua a 16-year-old Form 3 student at The Kenya High School undergoing Lincoln Leadership and Mentorship
In my project I chose SDG 4 Quality education and identified a need at Menyhart secondary School
I would like to raise funds for laboratory equipment for Menyhart Secondary school in Msabaha, Kilifi County
Please let’s join together and support the course
Thanks, and God bless you

Menyhart secondary school is a mixed sub county day school in Msabaha village of Dabaso ward, Kilifi north sub-county in Kilifi county which is in the coastal part of Kenya. The school was named after Mr. & Mrs Menyhart; a generous German hotelier couple who owned Eden roc hotel in Malindi.
It is a two-stream school up to form 3 in 2020 and one stream in form 4 (with 59 students)
Total student population is 311 (161 boys; 150 girls) with 8 Government employed and 11 temporary parent employed teachers
PHYSICAL FACILITIES
The school has an administration block which houses the principal’s, deputy principal’s, accounts' & secretary’s office.
It has a semi-permanent shelter for a staffroom which is congested hence lacking privacy.
There are six class rooms and the Kilifi North National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF) recently begun construction of two class rooms
The school doesn’t have a library but has a book store with very few books.
There is a kitchen to cater for the lunch program with no dining hall and furniture.
SCHOOL LABORATORY
The school has one dilapidated laboratory which is in dire need of renovation, has no furniture and equipment hence makes it difficult for students to undertake practicals during science lessons.
PARENTS/GURDIAN INFORMATION
Being a sub-county mixed day school the students are admitted from primary schools around Msabaha trading centre most of whose parents/guardians are poor.
Most parents have little or no education and do menial jobs thus it makes it difficult to solicit for development funds from them to.
