Most Kenyan Puppeteers work in the informal settlements around the country. Informal
settlements are very challenging environments to work in. The informal settlement dwellers
have very few sources of getting the rights information. Most lack TVs, radios and cannot
afford newspaper on the daily basis to access the right information about COVID-19. The
COVID -19 is spreading first in Kenya. The people living in the informal settlement will be the
worst affected due to congestions, lack of information and poor infrastructure within the
informal settlement.
We are seeking Ksh 2,000,000/= to enable puppeteers and artists sensitize and educate the
people staying in the informal settlements on the right information to minimise the spread
of COVID-19 in the informal settlements. Specifically, this will include the correct masks to
be used, the correct way to use the masks and general information on COVID-19 prevention.
We have developed integrated social media approach in cooperating puppetry, murals, folk
media to provide the right information on minimising the spread of COVID-19
