Shirlene's Fund
“I would like the people who are listening to me to feel the story behind the music and to be there with me with the music.” – Shirlene Obara

12-year-old Kenyan violinist Shirlene Obara successfully auditioned at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, U.K. in November 2018. She will be attending as a full-time student this September. She is seeking funds to support travel and other related expenses and to purchase a good quality full-size violin and bow.
At the age of eight Shirlene picked up the violin as a student of Consolata Primary School under the tutelage of Mr Solomon Wanakuta. She impressed her peers and teachers when she managed to master and play Canon in D only a few months after introduction to the instrument. This underlined the potential that she had as a violinist. Two years in a row since 2017 she has won both the Kenya Music Festival's Violin Advanced Category as well as the Young Musician Competition's Junior Category (Kenya).
Shirlene aspires to become an international concert violinist and is well on her way. Let us help her dream come true.
