"What do you want to become when you grow up?" is a question that almost every young child is asked at any one given point in their life. Whether or not, their initial answers are fulfilled depends on the Effort, Exposure and most important the quality of Education that the child will have over and above all other things. With the current highly dynamic digital age, the need for digital literacy has become apparent and urgent for children, especially at very young ages.

In the Sub-Saharan African primary schools, digital literacy is a "thing" that most students only hear about and hope they could access. These young minds resonate with our stories as Erasmus Mundus alumni. Just like the children in the rural areas who never had the chance to perceive the digital world, we were somewhat limited by the information available to us in order to make enlightened career decisions. We are determined to change the narrative and that is why we would like to support rural schools in Africa since they still have limited access to computers.

This project will be pioneered at the Gathitu Primary school, a public school that caters to about 400 boys and girls within the society of Mukurwe-ini in Nyeri, Kenya every year. The school has limited resources to run a solid computer program, which could complement the basic education curriculum and benefit all the pupils. As such, the pupils do not have the exposure that would broaden their knowledge and skills as a foundation for a wider scope of the career choices in the future. This would, in turn, raise the societal standards for their families as a whole.

All the funds collected will go towards purchasing items needed to facilitate the digital literacy program at the Gathitu Primary School. To begin with, we will need 10 desktop computers, employ a constant teacher and install a solar panel or generator for the school. Should you wish to make a pledge or contribute to this cause in any other way, kindly contact us via: emawezeshaafrica@gmail.com.

To show our gratitude, all donors will get a personalized thank you note from us and from every child beneficiary.

Join us, let's change the narrative together!
