MYSA Leaders Of Today For Tomorrow

Raised KES 17,255
Goal KES 3,000,000

Support MYSA Educate & Inspire More Leaders for the Community Today and for Kenya Tomorrow through Sports and Education.

“If you do something, I’ll do something, but if you do nothing then I’ll do nothing.” - That remains MYSA’s basic approach and deal with our youth to do something for their community through sports, for MYSA to do something for them in return.

The MYSA Leadership Awards scheme is a unique reward program that recognizes young members who have contributed significantly to the well-being of their community; considering the statistics above it is evidently clear that the scholarships are very competitive because it is only a very small percentage out of the 30,000 youth who are able to benefit.

The awardees receive scholarships after attaining points from participating in soccer matches and other non-sporting community development activities. Each year, the members with the most points receive education scholarships and their school fees are paid by MYSA directly to their school. These leadership awards give them an opportunity to continue with education and realize their full potential.

Therefore, your support will enable us to increase the number of boys and girls who shall receive scholarships and access quality education. With a donation of 150 $ (Ksh15, 000), you can support a child stay in school for one year. Through football, more children will continue going to go school in – http://www.cbc.ca/radio/thecurrent/the-current-for-may-17-2017-1.4118042/kids-are-going-to-school-because-of-football-how-a-canadian-gave-kenyan-youth-a-future-1.4118149

Some of the beneficiaries of this program have emerged as leaders in various fields such as medicine, politics, law, actuary, and economics.

"I gained the confidence to do it from football. Football has definitely changed my life." – (Moses Mutuli, Actuary, Beneficiary &Top 30 Under 30 2016)

To date that "something for the community" has turned out to be;

1. Slum cleanups, health education, slum library, and work readiness, child safeguarding, adaptive sports for persons with disabilities and girls empowerment.

2. Our unique governance system allows, women and youth participation.

3. MYSA is also a learn-by-doing organization, providing its members with many different chances to test and develop their athletic, organizational, leadership and even artistic skills and also to discover they can often best help themselves by helping others and their community

4. MYSA has also expanded beyond the Mathare slums to help youth in other poor urban and rural communities in and outside Kenya.

5. MYSA is also still likely the only sports organization in the world where teams earn additional points in the league standings for garbage cleanups.

6. Currently moving towards social enterprise achieve self-sustainability in community youth projects.

7. MYSA’s most important achievement by far is continuously producing new heroes and role models to encourage and inspire younger generations while also creating new leaders in the slums today and for our nation tomorrow.
